About Me

My headshot.

I am a current Biology major and Religion minor at Carleton College. I will graduate this June with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. I am interested in ecology, animal behavior, and organismal biology. I also enjoy statistics and working with R and RStudio. After graduation, I am hoping to continue to work doing research in these fields. I am also hoping to pursue a Masters Degree in ecology, biology, or a related field.

During the fall of 2023, I studied abroad in Ecuador, where I took classes in comparative ecology, conservation, and Spanish. During the program I was able to perform fieldwork in the Ecuadorean Amazon, the páramo, the cloud forest, and the Galápagos Islands. I also completed a month-long independent research project studying the impact of varying sugar concentrations at feeders on hummingbird behavior and aggression. The project was carried out at the Santa Lucía Cloud Forest Reserve and Ecolodge. It consisted of 56.5 hours of direct observation and data collection and culminated in a scientific article consistent with international publication standards.

I spent the summer of 2023 working at Denison University on a collaborative research project focused around common milkweed. The project was centered around common garden experiments at three sites along the plant’s natural range in the United States, with seeds coming from around 20 sites across the country.
